THE appeal by Herschelle Gibbs against the two-Test suspension for breaching the ICC’s Code of Conduct has been held via teleconference. The hearing was conducted by Richie Benaud as the appeals commissioner. Comments by Gibbs apparently out in the middle calling some unruly spectators “effing baboons” were picked up by a stump mike during the Test defeat by Pakistan at Port Elizabeth. His choice of words was deemed recist by the ICC referee Chris Broad. The verdict is due on Thursday.
