Good news for conch people

CONCH shells and collapsible coolers will be permitted at the World Cup in the West Indies, but banned are items not usually allowed on aircraft such as firearms, explosives, weapons and alcohol.

John Collymore, the World Cup security director, said that flag poles were on the banned list, though the flags themselves would be permitted if no bigger than 5ft by 3ft. He said:  “This will not in any way detract from the traditional party atmosphere at Caribbean cricket matches. In fact, these measures will certainly enhance it because spectators will appreciate that they are in a secure venue and can feel free to enjoy the event without any fear.”
